Cables work under constant tension with the spring system — 5 Star Garage Door Service checks the full assembly, not just the visible fray point.
We built our Garage Door Cable Repair service around Amherst, WI customers who need a specialist, not a generalist working outside their depth.
We'd rather send one truck that's actually equipped for garage door cable repair than three that aren't, even if it means a slightly longer wait on a rare occasion.
A cable slipped off its drum gets diagnosed for the underlying cause, not just re-seated.
Galvanized aircraft cable resists fraying far longer than standard cable in humid Amherst, WI conditions.
Every job includes a post-repair tension and balance check.
Catching fraying before it snaps is far safer than an emergency call after.
Even a few loose strands mean a cable is close to failing under load — replacement cable gets sized to match your spring tension exactly.
A cable that's already snapped usually means the door dropped or hangs crooked — we never operate a door on a snapped cable.
A cable that's slipped off its drum causes uneven hanging — we re-seat it and correct the underlying cause.
Extension spring systems should run safety cables to prevent whip-back — older doors often lack them entirely.
The bracket anchoring the cable to the door corrodes over time — this is a less obvious but equally important part of the system.
